Visiting Cox Arboretum
We had to write a haiga poem about one of the pictures that we took yesterday. I wrote about a picture I took of muddy water from a pond. When I looked at the image I got this feeling of even though the water is not clearest it is still water and it still shines. I am really proud of my piece since it was my first poem during this Stemersion. I felt as though the poetry helped to prepare me for all the nature I was going to see. When we got to Cox Arboretum we had a scavenger hunt that we were supposed to complete. The scavenger hunt gave us the opportunity to see all of the beautiful sites around the park. I did the hunt with my friends Ellie, Ally, Camryn, Letty, Lizzie, and Justin. When we found something on the hunt we had to take a picture of it. Because of the scavenger hunt, I now have so many beautiful pictures of nature. We went up a tall tower, to an edible garden, a maze made out of plants, and a wildflower garden. Every single place we went to was so fun. For the scavenger hunt, we had to write for five minutes. I had no idea what I was going to write but when the timer started all of these thoughts about the beauty of everything around me started flowing onto the paper. I don’t normally take the time to just appreciate all of the flowers and trees. When I did take the time to be thankful for everything, I felt free. I think that being at Cox Arboretum helped me to live more deliberately because I was just focused on being there and being in the moment with all of my friends. Seeing all of the beauty that was there with my friends gave me a clearer mind. I also enjoyed running around with my friends and talking about everything that we loved about being there. We laughed a lot and just enjoyed life. That’s what life is about right? Laughing and loving with people you care about. Altogether today was really fun and I am excited for next week.
